Seeds Wilderness Way exists to bring hope, healing, and restoration to teens and families facing deep emotional, relational, and spiritual struggles. As a licensed Christian outdoor behavioral treatment program, Seeds uses wilderness experiences, Christ‑centered counseling, and relational discipleship to help teens discover identity, purpose, and renewed connection with God.

Volunteers support this mission by helping create safe, loving, spiritually grounded environments where students can encounter transformation.

What Seeds Does

  • Supports teens facing anxiety, depression, identity struggles, family conflict, and crisis‑level behaviors.
  • Leads 40‑day and 5-day wilderness expeditions designed for heart transformation, healing, and reconciliation.
  • Provides preventative programs for parents, families, and youth leaders.
  • Offers three years of aftercare and discipleship to help students continue growth at home.
  • Integrates Christian counseling, experiential learning, peer support, prayer, and spiritual formation.

Requirements for Volunteers

  • Some general and specific trainings required before start 
  • Volunteers who may have direct contact with students are required to pass a background check and will have additional training. 
  • All volunteers must be physically capable of completing their position’s workload. Workload intensity will vary. All volunteers are recommended to be able to lift and carry at least 25 pounds.



The Laundry & Clothing Systems Volunteer Role Summary

The Laundry & Clothing Systems Volunteer provides essential behind-the-scenes support by maintaining the clothing and laundry systems that keep Seeds Wilderness Way's students and field staff equipped for extended time in the backcountry.

This role is ideal for someone who is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and willing to serve in the practical tasks that make wilderness programming possible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Wash, dry, fold, sort, and organize student and staff clothing.
  • Maintain an organized clothing inventory.
  • Inspect clothing for damage, excessive wear, or missing items.
  • Separate clothing requiring repair or replacement.
  • Prepare clean clothing for field deployment.
  • Receive and process dirty clothing returning from the field.
  • Prepare clothing packs for incoming students.
  • Help transport clean laundry into the field and dirty laundry back to the front country.
  • Maintain clean and organized laundry and clothing-storage areas.
  • Assist with gear organization and inventory as needed.
  • Help prepare gear and supplies for weekly restocks.
  • Assist with other logistics duties as needed.
  • Participate in Seeds prayer and devotional life when able. Pray over student’s clothes and bless them in the field with encouragement. 
  • Follow Seeds' safety, cleanliness, and operational policies.

Desired Experience

  • Prior outdoor, camping, backpacking, outdoor-industry, or similar experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with technical outdoor clothing preferred.
  • Ability to identify damaged or worn clothing and patch, repair, or recycle articles.
  • Dependable and able to complete repetitive tasks with consistency and care.
  • Ability to lift and move clothing bins and gear.
  • Ability to work independently.
