It has a strong conviction in the role of trade to support sustainable economic development across countries, particularly emerging markets, particularly Asia where many smaller suppliers are based. Olea supports suppliers and buyers in over 70 corridors.
Role summary:
Olea is looking for an SDET Automation Architect to design, scale, and pioneer our next-generation quality engineering infrastructure. In this role, you will take absolute ownership of the end-to-end reliability of our product releases, establishing an incredibly thorough testing ecosystem that minimizes production bugs and ensures flawless deliverables. Partnering closely with Engineering Leads, you will build and evolve the testing, evaluation, and quality frameworks that enable rapid, AI-assisted software development at scale. You will own the architecture of our test automation platforms, validation frameworks, and CI/CD quality gates, ensuring all code—whether written by engineers or generated with AI assistance—meets the highest standards of reliability, security, and correctness before reaching production. Through this, you will enable teams to fully leverage AI-native workflows while maintaining the trust and resilience required of a global trade finance platform.
Responsibilities:
- End-to-End Release Reliability: Drive the absolute quality and reliability of all product releases, establishing thorough, comprehensive testing strategies that minimize regressions, catch edge cases, and eliminate production defects.
- AI-Native Test & Evaluation Architecture: Lead the design and evolution of automated test suites, business validation frameworks, and AI evaluation pipelines that enable engineers to safely generate, verify, and iterate on software using AI-assisted development tools. Leverage AI-powered testing tools and LLMs to accelerate test creation, maintenance, and quality assurance.
- AI-Native Workflow Leadership. Partner with Engineering Leads to establish AI-native development workflows and quality guardrails that enable rapid, reliable AI-assisted software delivery.
- Airtight Merge Gates: Architect and maintain robust CI/CD automated testing gates, ensuring that every piece of code—whether generated by AI and reviewed by a developer, or written directly by a developer—strictly passes the full automated test suite before it can be merged into the main codebase.
- Domain-Specific Test Design: Map out complex trade finance workflows to design highly thorough test scenarios that rigorously validate invoice discounting, factoring, and transaction ledger accuracy.
- Framework Evolution: Build, scale, and optimize maintainable test automation frameworks across the entire stack (API, UI, Performance, and Security) tailored for high-throughput, secure financial systems.
- Quality Culture & Collaboration: Work closely with Tech Team Leads, developers, and Business Product teams to instill a "shift-left" quality mindset, identifying potential logic gaps and structural risks early in the SDLC.
Role specific technical competencies:
- Test Framework Architecture: Expert-level capability in designing, building, and scaling enterprise-grade test automation frameworks from scratch (e.g., using Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, TestNG, or Cucumber).
- AI-Native Quality Engineering: Strong proficiency in AI-native development practices, including agent-assisted engineering, evaluation frameworks, and automated validation systems, combined with hands-on experience using AI-powered testing tools and LLMs to write, optimize, and maintain comprehensive test suites.
- Financial Services Domain Expertise: Deep domain knowledge and hands-on experience testing complex financial product lines, specifically Invoice Discounting, Factoring, and Supply Chain Finance workflows.
- Full-Stack Code Literacy: High proficiency in reading and writing code in Java or NodeJS / JavaScript / TypeScript, allowing you to seamlessly debug, review application code, and build deep integration tests.
- CI/CD & DevOps Mastery: Deep experience integrating complex automated test suites directly into deployment pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) with dynamic environment provisioning.
- Data & Performance Integrity: Strong skills in writing complex SQL/NoSQL queries for data validation, alongside deep experience in performance, load, and stress testing (e.g., JMeter, Locust).
Qualifications (training, licences, memberships and certifications):
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Extensive experience in a Senior SDET, QA Lead, or Test Automation Architect capacity, with a proven track record of delivering zero-defect production releases within Fintech, transactional banking, or Trade Finance platforms.
